Why do we pray, O Lord?
What are we trying to do?
We want to influence you,
You who are, “I Am.”
You who are unchangeable.
Yet, God, we believe you respond to us, your creation.
So, Lord, accept our prayers to you
Knowing that sometimes we know not what to expect,
But that we know that you can change us by our prayer
Just as much as we hope to change you.
Amen.
