Holy One,
Your people are the salt of the earth,
Lights unto the world.
But so many of us use those designations to allow us
To believe that our lights are more important than others’
Or our ability to be salt outweighs others’.
You have called us to be community, not only amongst ourselves,
But with other humans the world over.
Teach us to share our light
Instead of trying to burn others with it,
And teach us how to accept other lights into our fires
That the Spirit’s flame may grow ever brighter.
Amen.
